Like a doctor who has made the right diagnosis of what has been afflicting a patient, coach James Nandwa is confident his Thika United side can get back on track if they stick to his recovery plan.

Until his appointment last month, Thika were ailing and in danger of being sucked into a season-long relegation dogfight but since he took charge, the Brookside boys are on the recovery path, having picked an impressive haul of seven points from their four matches with the former Harambee Stars coach in charge. And it could have been 10 had they kept their nerve while leading away at champions Gor Mahia, where they eventually lost 2-1 after goalkeeper Hamza Muwonge was shown a red card.

“The players didn’t believe in themselves and with every poor result, the situation deteriorated. So first, we worked on improving their confidence and now they are playing as a more cohesive unit and results are starting to improve. We are taking everything step by step but the quality is there and its up to us as coaches to ensure they show it on a more consistent basis,” observed Nandwa. Nandwa maintained his side is on course to achieving their short term target of moving out of the relegation zone.
