Asysa FC and Kisumu City Stars have been elevated to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF)
Division ‘2B’ which kicks off next week.
The two teams played in the Nyanza North mini league finals, earning a place in the 34-team league.
The Division 2 league features teams from Nyanza South, Nyanza North, South and Central Rift play in, according to Nyanza North chairman George Ongudi.
Asysa won the title after edging City Stars 7-6 on post match penalties following
a barren draw in regulation time. In the semis, City Stars beat Ahero Rangers 2-0 while Asysa edged Mareno 3-1 on penalties.
Other teams from Nyanza North participating in the league include Griffins, Y-Zone, Urusi, Kibuye, Green Berets, Muhoroni Young, Amani and Okore.
Meanwhile, plans are afoot to make Kisumu Hot Stars ‘great again’. The team finished fifth in national Division One last season with 33 points from 23 matches.
Kenya Professional Boxing Commission (KPBC) chairman, Hillary Alila has been appointed club chairman as they seek promotion to the National Super League.
FKF Nyanza North chairman George Ongudi is the patron. The club has begun preparations for the league which kicks off next month.
