Burhani Sports Club face a daunting task in the ongoing NBCA Bank Twenty20 with two tough matches on Sunday.

Burhani, who are placed fourth with four points in the nine-team event, play Mombasa Simba and Jafferys Sports Club in their back-to-back fixtures at Mombasa Sports Club and Coast Gymkhana respectively.

Burhani began their campaign with a loss to leaders Mombasa Sports Club ‘A’ before bouncing back to beat MSC ‘B’ and Memon Club in their next fixtures.

They will heavily bank on Kenyan international Alex Obanda to stop their opponents and close the gap between them and leaders MSC ‘A’ (12 points) and Coast Gymkhana (eight points).

In three matches, Obanda has scored 208 runs, which include two half-centuries with a top score of 95.

“Having Obanda has been an advantage to us. He has delivered at the top and we hope he will continue with the same form this weekend,” said skipper Yusuf Bakirali.

“We will also need to support him and play as a team. As batsmen, we will need to build partnerships and bowlers should try and bowl in the best areas.”

They will, however, miss the services of all-rounder Nelson Odhiambo, who will be playing in the Nairobi Invitational Twenty20 tournament for Kanbis. Third-placed Pakistan Cricket Club will battle it out with fifth-placed Cutchi Leva at Coast Gymkhana.

Pakistan are one of the two unbeaten sides in the tournament with wins against Jafferys (8th), Memon (9th) and Coast Gymkhana (2nd) and it will be interesting to see how they will turn up against Cutchi Leva, who have won only two of their four matches.
