Nairobi Gymkhana all-rounder Lucas Oluoch is frustrated over his poor batting form in the ongoing Nairobi Provincial Cricket Association (NPCA) 50 overs league as they face Stray lions on Sunday.

As the league enters its fifth round on Sunday, the immediate former skipper has scored a paltry 23 runs from three innings.

In an interview, Oluoch said: “I’m a little bit frustrated. I am trying to bat a little bit longer but that seems not to be working. When you are searching for runs, you can be searching for the right recipe, and over the last couple of days, I have been doing that but it seems not to be working. Maybe, I am trying too many things but truth be told, I am frustrated.”

Against Swamibapa last week, Oluoch was a duck as they were handed their third straight loss. However, the 30-year-old is still confident about his skills in the game.

“Not scoring does not mean I have all of a sudden become a poor cricketer. With the experience I have, I know what is required of me. It is about seeing through the initial part and putting pressure back on the bowlers. It is just about going back to my natural game, letting it flow and finding the right rhythm.”

While the national team pacer is worried about his role with the bat, he observed that his team is taking too long to start winning and called upon his teammates to change their approach collectively.

“We always want to win but that has proved difficult and so it’s upon us to change our mind set. We have had scenarios where we have been at the top but we end up leaving the field with our heads down. We need a collective change of approach if we are to be competitive,” Oluoch said. They have so far lost to Ngara, Sir Ali Muslim Club and Swamibapa.
