Scrabble Kenya have picked 28 players to represent the country at the Africa Championships starting this Friday to Monday in Lusaka, Zambia.
SK chairman Bernard Amuke said their aim is to beat the African champions Nigeria and believes they have picked a strong team for the assignment.
“We have a very good team of 28 players including one official from Kenya Pipeline Company, who are one of our sponsors. Pipeline footed the association's pending registration fee, ” said Amuke.
Last weekend, SK hosted the ASC Invitational Masters tournament at the Nairobi Stima Club, where Allan Oyende emerged top.
“Masters’ tournament acted as a build-up to the Lusaka event and we look forward to good results," he added. He said they are targeting the title and no one including Nigerians will stand in their way.
He said seven players traveled by road to Lusaka and left on Monday due to limited finances. The team went through Tanzania and are expected in Lusaka this evening.
