Chebisaas Boys’ have set their focus on winning their maiden rugby 15s title at the Uasin Gishu county Secondary Schools Sports Association starting today across various fields.

Chebisaas Boys’ head coach Lawi Kipruto is optimistic his boys will give a good account of themselves to ensure they progress to the Rift valley regional championships and nationals next month.

Kipruto said they have been undergoing intensive training to ensure they capture the title after losing to Simat in the semifinals during the Rugby Sevens last year.

“We are well prepared and looking forward to better competition. It is time for students to showcase their talent. We hope the weather conditions will favour us and officiating will be fair,” said Kipruto.

He said as they make their debut in 15s at the county level, they must master the art of playing with the big boys who are seasoned in the game.

“This is our first time to reach county level in rugby 15s and we are optimistic we shall shine and win the title because our target is the nationals,” he added.

Chebisaas are in Pool 'A' alongside Cheplaskei and Kiplombe in what is being seen as the pool of death. 

He said they have three matches on Friday and end the games on Saturday.

“We shall start our pool matches against Cheplaskei, followed by Kiplomb. We also hope to feature in the quarterfinals on Friday and semis and finals on Saturday,” said Kipruto.

 Kapsoya, Kabongo and Kaptebee will form Pool B with Tendwo, Simat and Moi barracks in Pool C. Sosian, Teldet and the University of Eldoret will battle it out in pool D.
