Strathmore Scorpions coach Meshack Senge has reiterated that the team is only focused on results rather than worrying about their opponents.

Scorpions, the hockey women's Premier League defending champions, take on Wolverines in the league match on April 23.

The varsity side have registered mixed fortunes in their last three matches.

The students opened the season with a 2-0 win over the University of Nairobi.

Captained by Jeriah Onsare, 'strath', as the team is fondly known in hockey circles, fell 2-1 to perennial rivals Blazers.

Decade long-serving forward Gilly Okumu, now playing for Amira Sailors scored against her former side in their 1-1 draw last weekend.

"We are not worried about what the opponent is doing. We are flip-flopping in terms of consistency and that's what we need to fix," Senge observes.

He added: "We need to try and build momentum. We showed resilience and toughness to earn a point last time but we have to show more desire. The maturity of the squad becomes key. Winning is a consequence of patience and consistency. We have to pull up our socks  because the results aren't good."

His opposite number, Dennis Owoka promised fireworks. The former Butali Warriors tactician added that he expects umpires to do their job without bias and also challenged his charges to capitalise on short corners.

"It will be a tough match but we are hopeful of a better result this time round. Dynamics have changed if their (Strathmore) faltering form is any barometer. That means we have nothing to fear," Owoka said.

"Umpires should officiate the match with a clean heart and do their job well. Penalty corners are a nationwide problem.  Kenyan clubs and the national team don't make use of PCs. It is funny to get 10 corners and fail to score, we have to improve on that."

Wolverines edged out UoN 1-0 in the first match and lost by the same scoreline against Sailors.
