Musingu Boys ended the seven-year dominance of St. Anthony’s Kitale at the just concluded Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) at the Eldoret Hill School.

The Kakamega County-based school won by a solitary goal scored by Alex Kigaro in the 28th minute.

Musingu coach Benson Wabuyabo attributed the victory to defensive solidity and vowed to iron out their weakness ahead of the regional games.

“As we head for East Africa, we have to address our striking force. We were sluggish in attack. We did well by nullifying our rivals' threat in short corners. The team defended well as a unit," Wabuyabo said.

The regional games will be staged in Rwanda, in August.

Mang’u ran out 2-1 winners in the third-place playoff match against Meru School.

In the girls' category, Nyamira girls reclaimed their title after edging out Tigoi 1-0 courtesy of Vivian Akinyi's 55th minute solo strike.

Multiple national basketball champions Laiser Hill beat Dagoretti to lift the trophy in the boy's cadre.

The rift valley champions were 45-42 winners to sail to the regional championships.

Rift Valley champions St Joseph’s Kitale defeated Moi Girls Kamusinga to win the girls’ handball title. Hospital Hill won in the boy's category.

Butula High School stunned All Saints from Eastern to win the rugby 15s title with a 38-0 scoreline at the final whistle.
