Home player Cedric Konzolo fired six over par 78 to claim the 5th leg of the NCBA Golf tournament series at the par 72 Kakamega golf club on Saturday.

Playing off handicap 5, Konzolo defeated a host of top golfers to emerge victorious in one of the best golf clubs in the Western Kenya region to book for the grand finale that will be played in December.

He said that the tough and competitive tournament was played on a good course with great fairways.

“I played with top golfers and the victory was as a result of my competitive edge. My mission when I came here was to win and the target was achieved,” said Konzolo.

Playing handicap 11, Victor Muhando was the men's gross winner.

He rolled in eight over par 80 with handicap 19 player Lydia Oketch on (+9) 91 taking home the Lady winner’s prize.

The Kakamega event comes after the successful fourth leg held last month at Thika Sports Club which attracted an impressive field of 256 golfers with David Matano winning the title.

Handicap 11 Julius Oketch on 80 gross was the men’s runner-up while Beatrice Shikuku, the former chairman of the club won the second position in the Lady’s prize after firing 94 gross.

Former club captain Jack Songwa won the overall men’s net.
