National Sevens  Circuit Division Two champions University of Eldoret (UOE) side, Trojans, have set their focus on the 15's season which starts in November.

Head coach Kelvin Mwisheni said the Sevens season has been successful winning the crown in one of the most competitive tournaments.

“Since we have had a busy calendar of Sevens, it is imperative that the boys take a one-month break before the 15's season in November. It was not an easy season for us,” said Mwisheni.

The Eldoret-based students won the Division Two title after accumulating 77 points. They finished 17 points ahead of second-placed Zetech Oaks, who had 60 points. Administration Police Warriors completed the podium with 59 points.

“Look at how all the positions were filled, especially, in the lower division where the teams were full. Not forgetting that Division One had many teams, unlike other seasons. All the pools were full and we played very well to complete the season as champions,” added Mwisheni.

As much as the Trojans topped their division, they will earn an automatic qualification into Division One next year, where they will face the likes of champions KCB, Kabras, and Strathmore Leos.

The students will also be chasing the overall 15s title in the Kenya Rugby Union Championship.

“We intend to put our act together during the break before turning our focus to the 15's season. The boys played well and we look forward to a good run in the 15's season,” he said.

“We will rely on the same players who competed in the Sevens second-tier league. For them to bond, they need a break before returning for the longer version of the game,” he said.

In the last two series, the Tisap 7s and Kabeberi 7s, Trojans played in Division One after winning the Christie 7s title, beating Zetech Oaks 17-10 three weeks ago.

Trojans started their journey in Kisumu’s Dala 7s, where they lost the final to Zetech Oaks before finishing third at the Driftwood in Mombasa and winning the Christies.
