Sports CS Ababu Namwamba is set to hand over the construction and renovation of four stadiums to Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) on Tuesday.
The move by the government is in line with its agenda to host the 2027 AFCON (Africa Cup of Nations) where the host nation will be announced on September 27 this year.
The four Stadia to be handed over are the Nyayo Stadium, Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani, Kipchoge Keino Stadium and a new stadium dubbed Talanta Sports City.
Namwamba will hand over the construction of Talanta Sports City at the Jamhuri Sports complex at 9 am.
He will later move to the Nyayo Stadium at 11 am and later to the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani at 12.
The handover of Kipchoge Keino stadium will be at 2 pm.
KDF has been called in for the renovations and construction of the stadia owing to their construction of the 10,000-seater Ulinzi sports complex in record time.
Kenya bid to co-host the tournament with neighbors Uganda and Tanzania and they will face competition from Algeria, Botswana and Egypt who submitted individual bids.
President William Ruto said the submission is part of the government's plan to harness skills and talents.
He further added that the government was keen on undertaking interventions that would make Kenya thrive in sports.
