UOE coach optimistic ahead of KUSF Open tournament in Narok

The two-day event will mark the third edition of the games and will start on Saturday and end on Sunday

The University of Eldoret (UoE) men's and women's netball teams' head coach Stella Kiptoo hopes to register good results in this weekend's Kenya Universities Sports Federation (KUSF) tournament at the Masai Mara University in Narok County.

The two-day event will mark the third edition of the games and will start on Saturday and end on Sunday. “We are heading there with the sole aim of posting good results. Our aim is to finish on the podium in our respective disciplines.

The women's team finished second in the last edition held in March and they are hopeful of going a step further in the event that has attracted 13 other universities.

“We had a good run at the ball games earlier this year with the women's team finishing second but this time, we want to improve on that position,” Kiptoo noted. 

The men's team finished fourth at the games and Kiptoo is promising to change his tactic and ensure they finish on the podium. 

The KUSF Secretary General Joseph Sandagi said such events are geared towards improving the standards in the disciplines.  “ This is an opportunity for the youths to improve their skills in their respective disciplines,” said Sandagi.  

According to the draws, UOE are pitted against hosts Masai Mara, Technical University of Mombasa (TUM), Kisii, Laikipia, and  Moi University in men's netball. 

The women's category will see the hosts take on UOE, TUM, the University of Nairobi, Kisii,  Technical University of Kenya,  Laikipia, Daystar Falcons, and Moi University among others.

Handball men have been pitted against UOE, Maasai Mara, TUM, UON, Kisii, Laikipia, Moi, and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).

On the other hand, handball women will see hosts Maasai Mara face  UOE, UON, Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST), Kisii, TUK, Laikipia and Moi University.
