Busia County League 2023-2024 season kicks off this afternoon with 10 matches on the card divided into Zone 'A' and Zone 'B'.
Zone 'A' features 13 teams. They include Boca Junior, FC Amagoro, Kakemer, Kakurikit, Kamolo, Kamuriai, Katakwa, Kekalet, Kiriko, Kokare, Korisai, Okuleu and Rwatama.
Zone 'B' has eight teams including Ang’orom FC, Bosman Knights, Sikinga Select, Mabale United, Nyumba Kumi, Olepito Young Stars, Out-growers FC and Simuli Youth.
In Zone 'A' matches this afternoon, Kiriko will host FC Amagoro, popularly known as The Flickering Flames at Kiriko Primary School.
Katakwa will take on Korisai at Katakwa Primary School while Kakemer meet Okuleu at Kakemer Primary School.
Tomorrow, Rwatama clash with Kamolo at Rwatama Primary School, Kokare will take on Kamuriai at Kokare Primary School as Kekalet hosts Kakurikit at Kekalet Primary School.
In zone 'B' this afternoon, Olepito will host Nyumba Kumi at Olepito Primary School while Sikinga Select lock horns with Simuli Youth.
Tomorrow, Out-growers FC will meet Mabale United at Mubwayo Primary School as Bosman Knights clash with Ang’orom at Buhuyi Primary School.
Both Zone 'A' and 'B' matches kick off at 1:00 pm.
Six teams earned promotion to the regional league from Busia County after the 2022-2023 season. They included Musokoto FC, Katelenyang, Khwilare, Moding, Kabkara, and Teens of Hope.
They joined Young Rovers Otimong’, who qualified the previous season but failed to qualify for Division Two. Obucuun Border FC who won the regional title earned a promotion to Division Two.
Other teams from Busia County participating in Division Two include Opet FC, Malaba Giants, and Hoha FC.
Chakol Queens is the only team from Busia County playing in the National Division One league with near prospects of playing in the top tie league.
