42 countries to grace Mombasa Tong-IL-Moo-Do world tourney

Kenya Tong-IL Moo-Do Federation is planning to host the 11th edition of the Mombasa Open Tong-IL Moo-Do international martial arts championship – 2023 from December 9-20 in Mombasa City.

The main competition will be held from December 15-17 at the Aga Khan Academy multi-purpose Hall.

So far, 42 countries have confirmed participation. They include; Paraguay, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Brazil, Cyprus, Ivory Coast, The Philippines, South Korea, Cambodia, Japan, The Republic of Congo and Iran.

Others are Turkey, Zambia, Malaysia, The Democratic Republic of Congo, Bukina Faso, the Central Africa Republic, Nepal, Angola, the USA, Germany and Kenya among others.

We are expecting confirmation from more nations by the end of November," Master Clarence Mwakio, the national federation chairman said.

The Mombasa Open Tong-IL-Moo-Do international martial arts championship is a World Championship status event according to the World Tong-IL Moo-Do Federation events classification.

The 12-day competition is open to Tong-IL Moo-Do the host and other invited martial arts like Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Judo, Kung-Fu, Aikido, Jiu-jitsu, Ninjutsu, Hapkido, Capoeira, Japanese Kendo and Wushu.

Competitors from as young as eight years boys and girls to men and women of up to 55 years shall compete as individuals and teams in various categories in the three-day tournament.

Tong-IL Moo-Do is a comprehensive unified martial art discipline from South Korea.

Kenya Tong-Il Moo-Do Federation is affiliated to the World Tong-IL Moo-Do Federation.

The martial arts was founded in 1979 by Grandmaster Dr. Joon Ho Seuk.

It started in Kenya in 1987 and has a presence in seven Regions (former Provinces) and 14 counties in Kenya and is still growing.

It has a presence in all major cities and towns in Kenya.
