Wadadia tactician Silvanus Wesonga says lack of adequate preparations is to blame for their 6-0 humiliation by champions Vihiga Queens over the weekend.

Speaking after Sunday's defeat at Moi Stadium, Kisumu, Wesonga said most of the players had just returned from the festive break and had, therefore, not trained adequately as a group.

"We had no time to prepare for the match since most of the players returned to training late," Wesonga said.

Emily Morang'a scored four times as Timaini Waliaila and Vivian Akinyi added one goal each for the champions.

Meanwhile, Vihiga head coach Boniface Nyamunyamu said the win is another crucial step in their ambitions to retain the Women's Premier League title.

"Our mission is to ensure we have enough points to win the league," Nyamunyamu said.

Elsewhere, the match between Bungoma Queens and Ulinzi Starlets was shelved to pave the way for the burial of Bungoma Queens Carolina Waswa, who was laid to rest over the weekend.

Waswa succumbed after a short illness.

The club eulogised Waswa on their Facebook page, saying: "We have lost one of our key players."

In other matches played over the weekend, Madira Soccer Assassins suffered a 3-2 loss to Kibera Ladies at Mambo Leo Stadium in Kisumu.

Bunyore Starlets fell 4-2 to Police Bullets at Police Sacco Stadium in Nairobi as Zetech Sparks and Gaspo Ladies drew 1-1  at Imani Stadium.
