Reigning Nyanza region girls hockey champions Nyamira Girls will on Saturday lock horns with perennial rivals Ageng'a in the regional finals at Kisumu Day.
It will be a repeat of last year's finals which saw Nyamira the eventual national and East Africa champion win 1-0.
In Friday's semis, Nyamira Girls silenced Siaya County rivals 4-0.
Lauren Auma grabbed a brace with Ananda Wamalwa and Jacinta Opondo scoring the other goals.
Coach Eliakim Obondo said:
"I expect a balanced game against Ageng'a. I will not underrate them and we will go full throttle. We want to retain our title."
In the other semi-final, Ageng'a sealed a place in the Finals after a 3-1 triumph over Kisumu Girls.
Happy Míšango scored twice while Velma Achieng wrapped up the scores for Ageng'a. Kisumu Girls' Lone goal was scored by Sarah Otieno.
Ageng'a coach Alloyce Owino said:
"I expect the girls to give their all. We want to be at our best because we want to lift the title."
In boy's hockey, Kisumu Day will entertain Sawagongo in the first semi-final while Ringa Boys will battle it out with Ngere.
In girls' handball, St Albert's Ulanda Girls dumped defending champions Miranga out of the competition after a convincing 29-22 win.
Ulanda will face off with Nyakach Girls who saw off Nyamira Girls 22-21 in a tightly contested game.
In the boys’ category, Mbita School will clash with defending champions Manyatta while St Mary’s Yala will face off with former champions Kanyawanga.
In girls’ basketball, Nyakach Girls and Ng'iya Girls booked a date in Saturday's final after winning respective semi-final games.
Nyakach coached by Kevin Otuoma saw off defending champions Ototo School 63-31 while Ng'iya beat Asumbi Girls 37-19.
In the boys' category, holders Onjiko School will battle Maseno while Agoro Sare will battle it out with Ototo School.
In Rugby 15s, Kisii School narrowly beat Maseno 3-0 to qualify for the finals.
Matrix Matangi scored the penalty for Kisii who will defend their title against the winner between St Mary's Yala and Nyabondo.
Soft-spoken Kisii School coach Hesborn Chweya said:
“It was a very tough game. Maseno were out to revenge last year’s loss at the final but we were well prepared. We want to defend our title.”
