Kenya Police boxing team head coach Dave Munuhe reckons his charges have sharpened their talons well enough to assert authority at the Kenya Open championships.
In an exclusive interview, Munuhe said they will field boxers in all the weight divisions at the annual tournament that kicks off at the Greenpark Terminus Hall in Uhuru Park, Nairobi on Wednesday afternoon.
"We're a full house and have fielded fighters in all the weight categories. We are approaching the contest with determination knowing quite well our boxers stand a chance to seal national team slots if they win," Munuhe remarked.
"We've been training at the Mathare Depot and I believe we have prepared adequately for the task ahead," he added.
The tactician, who also serves as the national team assistant coach, said he will closely monitor the performance of his recently recruited young and upcoming pugilists.
"We have several budding boxers who look promising and we are eager to give them a stage to prove their mettle. I believe they have something tangible to offer at the tournament," Munuhe started.
