National Super League side Luanda Villa Soccer Club has appointed Gilbert Selebwa as their new coach.

Selebwa is the former coach for AFC Leopard and Shabana FC head coach.

Selebwa's appointment was announced through Villa's official Facebook page and confirmed by chairman Moses Abwenje. Selebwa replaces Tom Terah who will now serve as assistant coach.

"We have appointed a new coach for Luanda Villa but that doesn't mean Tera is leaving. He will be here with the team as the assistant coach," Abwenje clarified.

Villa's long-serving tactician, Tera started with Luanda Villa while in Division One, where they played two seasons before earning a promotion to NSL in the 2022/2023 season.

Abwenje said Tera will be Selebwa's assistant as he pursues his CAF B coaching certificate.

Former Kenyan international Francis Oduor takes the role of the team trainer. Luanda Villa is currently position 11 with 43 points in the National Super League table.

Kajiado (26), Gusi FC  (23) and Silibwet (21) occupy 18, 19 and 20th  positions respectively and are on the verge of relegation.

"This is our debut season in the NSL and our aim was to avoid relegation. From here, our next target is to fight for the promotion to the Kenya Premier League," he noted.

Abwenje said with the entry of Selebwa and Oduor to Luanda Villa, fans should expect good results in the remaining matches.

However, a section of fans are not happy with the idea of hiring a new coach with only eight matches remaining.

"The management could have just left Tom Tera to finish the remaining matches then hire  Selebwa from next season," one of the fans said.
