Anjego eye Migori 7s title as Term II games get underway

Anjego upset giants Kanga High and St Joseph’s Rapogi to lift the 15s title during the Term One games.

Migori County secondary schools rugby 15s champions Anjego Mixed has been handed a tough pool in the Sevens championships which kick off on Thursday at Kubweye Mixed Secondary School.

Anjego will face Pe Hill and hosts Kubweye in Pool ‘D’ according to the draws released by Migori County Secondary Schools Sports Association secretary George Kichana.

Anjego, under the tutelage of principal and head coach J. J Masime upset giants Kanga High and St Joseph’s Rapogi to lift the 15s title during the Term One games.

Masime is confident his charges will repeat the heroics at Kubweye.

“We want to prove that our win in the 15s was not a fluke. My boys have set sights on the regional championships to be held in Kisii next month,” said Masime, a veteran rugby coach.

Ageng’a Mixed face Sori and Winjo in Pool ‘A’ while former champions St Joseph’s Rapogi headline Pool ‘B’ alongside Kameji and Gokeharaka. Isebania Boys', St Pius Uriri and Koderobara are in Pool ‘C’.

In boys’ football, Kionyo will play off Pool ‘A’ alongside Sori and Korwa while Pool ‘B’ features St Joseph’s Ntimaru, Taranganya and Iraha.

Favourites Koderobara are drawn against Osiri and Bishop Anyolo in Pool ‘C’ as Nyakuru, Mubachi and Senye collide in Pool ‘D’.

Owiro Akoko will take on Moi Suba and Getonganya in Pool 'A' of the girls' netball competition while champions Oyugi Ogango will have an easy task against minnows Sota SDA and Bondo Kosiemo in Pool ‘B’.

Komotobo, Nyango and Kamai battle in Pool ‘C’ while Nyamotambe, Luoro and Wang’irabose are in Pool ‘D’.
