Gor Mahia will leverage their remaining Kenyan Premier League matches to perfect their craft ahead of next month's Cecafa Kagame Cup, captain Philemon Otieno has said.
The record Kenyan champions will fly the nation's flag at the regional inter-club showpiece, which resumes after a two-year sabbatical.
K'Ogalo secured a 21st KPL title with two games in hand. They face Sofapaka on Saturday and Talanta on June 19.
They head to Tanzania eager to add a fourth crown to their trophy cabinet, having previously conquered East Africa in 1980, 1981 and 1985.
On Wednesday, Otieno emphasised their intention to finish the season with a bang, saying their final two matches will be more like training sessions.
"We are by no means underrating our opponents but our last two matches will give us a chance to gauge our potential for the Cecafa Kagame Cup," Otieno said.
Otieno said they have the enchantment to accomplish their mission in Tanzania next month.
"We're ready for the task ahead. The tournament has been scheduled at an appropriate time when we are preparing for the CAF Champions League," Otieno stated.
"We have a good squad that will comfortably the trophy home."
K'Ogalo comprises a stellar roster of 16 regional clubs that have confirmed participation in the July 6-22 competition.
Tanzania boasts the highest number of participants — Simba, Young Africans (Yanga) Azam, Coastal Union and JKU SC.
El Merreikh, Al Hilal and Hai El Wadi will fly Sudan's flag.
SC Villa will represent Uganda while El Merreikh FC-Bentiu and Vital 'O will hold forte for South Sudan and Burundi respectively.
Three clubs; TP Mazembe (DR Congo), Nyasa Big Bullets (Malawi) and Red Arrows (Zambia) have received invitations as guests.
Previously known as the Cecafa Club Cup, the regional football showpiece was renamed the Kagame Interclub Cup in 2002 when Rwandan President Paul Kagame became the major sponsor.
It was last held in 2021 when hosts Express FC pipped Nyasa Big Bullets of Malawi 1-0 to clinch the title in Tanzania.
Simba SC are the most successful club, having tucked away six titles in 1974, 1991, 1992, 1995, 1996 and 2002.
They are closely followed by Kenyan giants AFC Leopards, who won it in 1967, 1979, 1982, 1983, 1984 and 1997.
