KCB head coach Bernard Mwalala believes his charges have honed their talons sufficiently to wrap up the Kenyan Premier League season on a high.
Mwalala said their FKF Cup semifinal triumph against their more fancied KPL rivals, Kariobangi Sharks, injected tremendous zest into the Bankers’ camp.
The Thika Road side flung all their arsenal into the match to wring out a hard-fought 4-2 win on post-match penalties to set up a final date against Police FC later this month.
“The recent win in the FKF Cup is indeed a great confidence booster. As we approach the final matches of the season, maintaining that positive momentum and confidence will be crucial,” Mwalala remarked.
The seasoned gaffer will lead an onslaught against seventh-placed Posta Rangers at St. Sebastian Park in Murang’a County on Saturday.
“We won over a well-oiled team so I believe we are in a good position to claim the three points against Posta Rangers. We have trained well for them. I believe we are in a strong position to compete effectively,” Mwalala remarked.
“We know their threat in offence and defence but we are ready to beat them. We anticipate a tough match. However, a win can only be the only foreseeable result,” Mwalala stated.
With three matches left to play in the 2023/2024 Kenya Premier League season, KCB are keen to bag maximum points against Rangers, AFC Leopards and City Stars to finish in a respectable position.
KCB are 11th on the log with 40 points from 31 matches.
Ulinzi Stars will flex their muscles with Nzoia Sugar at the Ulinzi Sports Complex on Friday. Shabana host AFC Leopards at the Raila Odinga Stadium in Homabay.
Nairobi City Stars have a date with Kakamega Homeboyz at the Police Sacco Stadium while Muhoroni Youth will face Talanta at Muhoroni Stadium.
Tusker will battle it out with Bandari at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
On Sunday, Murang’a Seal host Kenya Police at St. Sebastian Park as Sofapaka tackle champions Gor Mahia. Bidco United will lock horns with Kariobangi Sharks at Machakos Stadium.
