Nyanza region schools warned over fielding ineligible players

KSSSA Nyanza region chairman Otieno Oloo and education director in the region, Lawrence Karuntimi warned that stern action will be taken against those found guilty.

•Karuntimi said they are using the games as a dry run for the national championships which will also be held in Kisii from July 29 to August 7.

•Meanwhile, the games will enter Day Two today as  Koderobara face Ong’icha as Ambira battle it out with Tonga in boys' football.

Teams taking part in the ongoing Nyanza Secondary Schools Term Two Games have been cautioned against fielding ineligible players.

Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Nyanza region chairman Otieno Oloo and education director in the region, Lawrence Karuntimi warned that stern action will be taken against those found guilty.

“I want to emphasise that these are games for students. We shall not allow any non-student to take part. We have put in place measures to ensure the games are exclusively for students,” said Oloo.

Karuntimi echoed Oloo’s sentiments. “I want to reiterate the chairman’s sentiments. If you are not a student, please, don’t take part in these games. We are very serious about the issue,” said the RDE.

Oloo and Karuntimi spoke at Kisii School during the games’ opening ceremony. The games will conclude on Saturday. Oloo asked referees to be fair and firm during the four-day championship.

Meanwhile, the games will enter Day Two today as  Koderobara face Ong’icha as Ambira battle it out with Tonga in boys' football. Agoro Sare battle Ong’icha as Koderobara will be up against Kisumu Day. Sameta High face Ambira in the other game with Ambira taking on Matutu PAG.

In girls’ football, Alara face Nyabisase in the opening game while Nyambaria Geke will face Hawinga.
