Nyanza games disrupted again as fans clash again

Fans invaded the pitch in the 75th minute with Matutu leading Agoro Sare 2-0.

Chaos erupted at Cardinal Otunga High School, Mosocho, in Kisi County during the football semifinal match between Agoro Sare and Matutu PAG.

Fans invaded the pitch in the 75th minute with Matutu leading 2-0.

The volleyball semifinal schedule was also disrupted. Sagegi were in action against Gogo as Nyabisia were battling Nyabondo in the boys' category.

In the girls’ category, Ogande were in action with Nyakembene were facing off as Nyakongo was battling Nyakach Girls.

The rugby 7s semifinal between Kisii and St Mary’s Yala was also abandoned as the fans engaged in running battles.

Scores of fans and players were injured in the melee. By the time of abandonment, Yala were leading 12-7. Friends School, Ajengo, were to play Otieno Oyoo in the second semifinal.

The Nyanza KSSSA committee will meet to decide the fate of the disrupted game between Agoro Sare and Matutu PAG.

Koderobara qualified for the final after a 2-0 win over Ambira High School. Samson Gadson grabbed a brace for the Migori County champions.

In girls’ football, newbies Alara thrashed Hawinga 4-1 to qualify for their maiden regional final. They will face the winner of the game between Nyakach Girls and Lwak Girls, which did not take off due to the chaos. 

The game will be played on Saturday morning at Cardinal Otunga High School, Mosocho.

In netball, Oyugi Ogango and Nyakach Girls will renew their rivalry in the final. 

Defending champions Oyugi Ogango progressed to the final after an emphatic 76-16 win over Nyango while Nyakach beat Lambwe 48-32. It will be a repeat of last year’s final where Oyugi Ogango beat Nyakach 40-37.

In girls’ rugby 7s, Nyagichenche will face Nyakach Girls in the decider. In the first semifinal, Nyagichenche beat Nyakongo 10-5 while Nyakach Girls saw off Sidindi 25-7.

All four semi-finalists proceed to the national championships to be held in Kisii from July 28 to August 4.

In the boys 3x3 basketball, defending champions Onjiko High will face Ambira Boys in the semifinals while Maseno School take on Sawagongo. 

In the girls’ category, holders and favourites Ng’iya Girls will battle St Barnabas while in the other semifinal pits Tuk Jowi against Nyakach Girls.
