Due to financial challenges, the Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) Premier League has been pushed back by a week.
According to KHU fixtures secretary Moses Majiwa, all matches will commence on August 3 instead of July 27.
"The reason for the adjustment is to give teams more time to put their act together," Majiwa said.
Both the men's and women's top-tier matches will be played at Dashmesh Stadium as City Park has been closed for renovations since January.
The Super League matches will take place at USIU-A grounds while National League matches will be staged at Impala grounds.
He said the fact that the matches have been spread across three venues will help shorten the season compared to last year when matches were held at a central point (City Park Stadium).
In addition to these venues, matches will also be hosted in Bungoma, Eldoret, Kakamega, Kapsabet, Kirinyaga, Kisumu, Kitale, Mombasa, Nakuru, Narok, Oyugis and Vihiga.
He clarified that no new rules have been implemented for the upcoming season, but noted, "We will soon see an advancement in match planning in line with the International Hockey Federation regulations."
Meanwhile, Masters Hockey have planned a friendly match as part of their build-up in preparation for the 2024 World Masters Hockey scheduled for October 11-21 in Cape Town.
The friendly will pit the national men's team against ladies over 35 years.
Elsewhere, KHU Masters Hockey Tournament Series 3 will take place in Nairobi from August 31 to September 1, 2024.
The tournament will be held at Simba Union, having previously been hosted in Nakuru, Mombasa, and Nairobi.
The event has attracted ten teams split into two pools. Pool 'A' will have Nakuru Masters, Impala Veterans, Wazalendo, Goan Institute and Western Masters while Pool 'B' will feature Blue Ocean Chiefs, Sikh Union, Parkroad Lions and Greensharks Veterans.
"At the moment, Simba Union, who are the hosts, are getting everything ready for the tournament with sponsors still falling short. However, we are hopeful we will find some," said John Fernandes, who is the chair of the National Masters team selection committee.
