Bunyore Starlets' Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Zacharia Amakhana has described head coach Timothy Ondeko's exit as a big blow to the team.
Initially, Ondeko had earlier said that he doesn't have a free hand to make decisions.
"As a coach, you need powers to make decisions on the playing unit. However, I have been reduced to nothing as far as making decisions is concerned," Ondeko was previously quoted as saying.
Ondeko parted ways with Bunyore Starlets after one season. He is heading to Shabana FC as a fitness and conditioning coach according to Amakhana.
“First, I saw something on social media contracting the coach for joining Shabana FC and when I called him to find out, he confirmed,” Amakhana revealed.
“The package at Shabana FC is better than what we were offering him and even if I wanted him back, It was going to be hard,” he added.
Amakhana said as a team, they would have to go back to the market and shop for a new tactician ahead of the 2024/2025 season.
The club is currently conducting trials at Mumboha Stadium under assistant coach Absalom Mariga.
However, the CEO has given a hint of hiring a female tactician who will either lead the team or deputise Absalom Mariga as long as she meets the FKF requirements.
“Currently, the FKF rules now demand that we have a male and a female coach so we might use this chance to see if we can secure the services of a female coach,” he posed.
The club is still grappling with decisions on whether to conduct elections or not. However, the CEO still holds on to his word that the elections will be held before the new season kicks off.
