Okere delighted as Kibwage renews contract with Brewers

The centre-back had been linked with a move to AFC Leopards.

Tusker FC interim coach Charles Okere expressed his enthusiasm after assistant captain Mike Kibwage committed his future to the Brewers.

Kibwage had renewed his contract with the club on Tuesday.  The centre-back had been linked with a move to AFC Leopards.

“We are thrilled because Kibwage has decided to continue his journey with us. His experience and leadership are invaluable assets to the team,” said Okere,  who took over from Robert Matano. 

“He is a very key member of our team not just on the pitch but off it as well. He is the kind of player we can not afford to lose. We look forward to achieving new milestones together,” Okere added.

Tusker’s chief executive officer,  Sam Nzau, said: “Kibwage is a key member of the team. Most of the young players look up to him and the leadership he gives in the dressing room is exceptional. He is a pillar to the team we are building and I am excited he has agreed to continue the journey with us.”

Kibwage said he is eager to contribute to the team’s success. “I am excited to extend my time with Tusker. This club has been like a family to me and I am eager to contribute to our future successes and support the team in every way.”

Separately, former Shabana captain Peter Ogechi has been appointed FKF Women's National Super League Kisii Queens aka Shabana Queens as head coach.

 Shabana Secretary General Elizaphan Kerama on Monday announced the appointment of Ogechi, who is the club’s long-serving captain. Ogechi is a CAF 'C'license holder.
