Mumias-based Wadadia FC suffered a major blow ahead of the 2024/25 Kenya Women’s Premier League (KWPL) season after goalkeeper Ruth Winfred announced her exit from the club.

Winfred announced her exit from Wadadia through her Facebook page on Monday and acknowledged Wadadia as a great club.

“Thank you so much Wadadia for the experience of being a member of your big family. I’ve been very happy here and you’ve made me feel at home. Besides, you have been a strong influence on my professional career in the world of soccer,” Winfred said.

She added: “I want to take this opportunity to wish my colleagues in the team all the best in the forthcoming 2024/2025 season,” she added.

Winfred, however, did not give any indication of where she was headed.

On the same note, Ephy Awuor will officially take over as the first goalkeeper at Madira Soccer Assassins after the exit of Nelly Achieng.

Achieng is expected to join the Fountain Gate Women’s Club in Tanzania next season.

“Nelly Achieng has officially left our team and she will be joining Fountain Gate Women’s  Club of Tanzania when the season kicks off,” Madira team manager Sharon Vulimo confirmed.

“We won’t be going back on the market to seek a new stopper as Ephy Awour will take over in the coming season of 2024/2025,” she cited.

Vulimo further said Nixon Muleri, the Chief Executive Officer of Madira Soccer Assassin, has exited the club after being transferred from Madira High School.

“We might get a new CEO for the team. Initially,  the former CEO was the games teacher and may use the same criteria to pick the next," she said.
