Hosts Uganda retain overall Feasssa title

The hosts clinched 37 medals — 12 gold, 14 silver and 11 bronze.

Uganda retained the overall title as the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (Feasssa) games concluded in Mbale and Bukedea districts in Uganda.

The hosts clinched 37 medals — 12 gold, 14 silver and 11 bronze. Kenya were second with 26 medals — 11 gold, 10 silver and six bronze medals.

Rwanda were third with one gold, one silver and three bronze medals, just a silver better than Burundi. Tanzania were last with three bronze medals.

Kenya won the titles in rugby 15s, rugby Sevens (boys and girls), boys' athletics, girls' volleyball, basketball 3x3 (boys and girls), hockey (boys and girls) and boys' lawn tennis.

Uganda continued dominance in boys’ football through hosts Amus College, who dethroned St Mary’s Kitende with a 1-0 win in the final.

Kenya’s Musingu finished third after a 3-2 win over Bukedea Comprehensive School. Barding High School was the last Kenyan team to win the regional football trophy in 2016 in Eldoret.

In the girls’ category, St Noa Girls beat Kenya’s Butere Girls 1-0 to lift the trophy on Monday evening at Bukedea Comprehensive School.

Uganda were dominant in the primary schools' category, grabbing three gold, two silver and four bronze medals while Kenya were second with three gold medals, one silver and one bronze.

Tanzania were third with one gold, four silver and two bronze medals. Kenya won the girls’ volleyball title and athletics (both boys and girls).

Kakamega will host the regional championships next year.
