The Kenya Motorsports Federation (KMSF) has firmly refuted claims that Maina Muturi has been replaced by Jim Kahumbura as the federation's chair.

This follows a circulating press release alleging that Kahumbura had assumed chairmanship on an interim basis after a board meeting held on Wednesday at the Sikh Union Club.

The release also claimed that Rohit Budhia would serve as interim Motor Sport Council chairman until the next Annual General Meeting, scheduled for October 9.

However, in an official statement signed by KMSF chairman Muturi, the federation dismissed the release as false, reaffirming that Muturi remains in charge

“Our attention is drawn to an unsigned press release, dated 28th August 2024, allegedly from KMSF. The KMSF Board would like to clarify as follows: The meeting held today at the Sikh Union Club was not a bona fide KMSF Board and it did not meet the threshold of the meeting where Jim Kahumbura threw out the company secretaries and subsequently some of the directors walked out in protest,” the statement read.

“The Chairman of KMSF remains to be Maina Muturi. Changes to the Motorsport Council and the KMSF Appeals Board can only be carried out by the KMSF Board. There have been no changes to those Councils or Boards.”

The statement also mentioned that the federation’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) would be announced soon. “A properly constituted Board Meeting and the AGM will be announced in due course.”
