Sarah Mose and Maria Brunlehner are among the top swimmers expected at the National Swimming Championships at Kasarani Aquatic Arena on February 15-16.

Mose represented the country at the World Championships in Budapest in December last year.

She targets qualification for the second straight year.

The 2025 World Championships is due in Singapore in July. Last year, she landed a World Aquatics scholarship in Antibes, France, after a two-year stint in Poland.

She learnt valuable lessons in the Hungarian capital, which she hopes to execute if she qualifies for the Singapore event this year.

“The world event was competitive and competing against the top swimmers was an eye-opener. I am back in training and hope to post impressive results this year.”

Kenya Aquatics (KA) revealed a second qualifier for the world event in May during the National Long Course Swimming and Open Water Championship at the same venue.

KA president Maureen Owiti expressed confidence in the readiness of the athletes, coaches and the broader swimming fraternity.

“I am impressed to see teams training hard ahead of the nationals. We are also ready to host teams from neighbouring countries. We assure everyone of a high-quality championship, that meets World Aquatics standards. We also extend our invitation to international swimmers to come and compete on Kenyan soil,” she stated.

Owiti observed that Kenya will host the 10th Africa Aquatics Zone 3 Swimming Championships, in either October or November and preparations will start soon.
