  • The Dockers, currently sixth on the Kenyan Premier League log with 32 points, are nine points adrift of leaders Kenya Police.
  • Odhiambo said the addition of Clifford Ouma, Dennis Ng’ang’a, Ali Halafu and John Makwata is a calculated move to turn around Bandari’s fortunes.

Bandari head coach Ken Odhiambo has celebrated the arrival of a talented quartet to the team, saying the players will play a pivotal role in propelling the Mombasa-based side to the desired heights.

The Dockers, currently sixth on the Kenyan Premier League log with 32 points, are nine points adrift of leaders Kenya Police.

Odhiambo said they now boast sufficient depth to power their way to major silverware. Nestled in the coastal city of Mombasa, the club’s last major triumph came in 2019 with a 3-1 victory over Kariobangi Sharks in the FKF Cup final.

Odhiambo said the addition of Clifford Ouma, Dennis Ng’ang’a, Ali Halafu and John Makwata is a calculated move to turn around Bandari’s fortunes.

“With a strategic focus on strengthening key areas of the team, Bandari seeks not only to reclaim past glories but also to assert itself as a formidable force in the Kenyan Premier League,” Odhiambo said.

“As the current season unfolds, the arrival of a talented quartet has injected fresh optimism into the club’s ambitions.”

“Our title aspirations were diluted by glaring weaknesses in the three departments and I believe we’ve made great efforts in addressing the gaps in the concluded mid-season transfer window.”

Makwatta, a former marksman for AFC Leopards and Kariobangi Sharks, is renowned for his goal-scoring prowess.

His track record across various leagues, including a stint at Tanzania Coastal Union, demonstrates his capability to deliver in crucial moments.

“With international experience under his belt, Makwatta is poised to add significant firepower to Bandari’s attack,” Odhiambo said.

Joining him is Dennis Ng’ang’a, a seasoned defender with a reputation for stability and composure. Having played for notable clubs such as Gor Mahia, Wazito, KCB and Zanaco FC in Zambia. His ability to thwart opposing attacks and initiate play from the back is expected to bolster Bandari’s defensive line.

In the midfield, Clifford Ouma brings a wealth of talent and tenacity.

Known for his exceptional ball distribution and defensive acumen, Ouma’s ability to create goal-scoring opportunities will be instrumental in linking the defence with the attack.

Lastly, the youthful forward Ali Halafu joins the ranks, bringing speed and finishing ability from his time at Congo Boys.

His agility and flair are expected to inject a new dimension into Bandari’s attacking options, making the team more unpredictable and difficult to defend against. As Bandari prepares to face KCB in a crucial mid-week encounter, Odhiambo said his charges are eager to bounce back from a disappointing 3-2 defeat to FC Talanta.

“This upcoming match presents an opportunity for the new quartet to make their mark and demonstrate their value to the team. The stakes are high and the pressure to perform is palpable, yet the atmosphere within the squad is one of determination and hope,” Odhiambo said.

In other matches set for Wednesday, Posta Rangers will face Mara Sugar at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos as Kakamega Homeboyz battle Muranga Seal at Mumias Complex. AFC Leopards will host Sofapaka at Dandora Stadium as Ulinzi Stars battle Kariobangi Sharks at Kenyatta Stadium.
