South Coast Pirates face a daunting task in their bid to escape relegation when they host Menengai Oilers in their final game of the regular season on Saturday.

The third-placed Oilers go into the game as favourites. They have points from games, while the South Coast Pirates are at the bottom of the log with nine points.

Oilers will seek to bounce back to winning ways after two consecutive losses. They lost 29 - 27 to KBC and suffered defeat to Kenya up champions Kabras in their penultimate game of the season.

The Diani-based Pirates have won just two games in their debut season in the top flight. They beat Strathmore Leos 15 - 8 and overcame Nakuru 17- 0.

Nakuru, Leos, Kisumu and Mwamba are also in the relegation dogfight. Strathmore and Kisumu are level on points at ninth while Mwamba are th with points.

Pirates need a bonus-point win against Oilers and hope their relegation-threatened counterparts falter.

Head coach Kevin Amiani emphasised the magnitude of the encounter, their biggest game of the season.

“We understand the stakes, and the boys are prepared to fight for survival. We respect Oilers, but this is about proving that we belong in the Kenya up,” he told the club's website. “It is a tough one but we are determined to finish on a high note.”

Kisumu host Nondies while Mwamba will be up against Blak Blad. eos have a tough encounter against Kenya Harle quins at the cage.
