Darajani Gogo coach Paul Ogai is eager to end Nairobi United’s good run in the National Super League when the two sides meet on Saturday in Match Day 23 of the FKF Premier League.

Ogai said: “Nairobi United have been in fine form. It’s been a long time since they tasted defeat. However, we are keen to pick maximum points against them.”

He added: “We still have a chance of qualifying for the FKF Premier League but we must work hard and pick points against our promotion rivals.”

The Nicholas Muyoti-led Nairobi United lead the log with 47 points followed by Administration Police Service (APS) Bomet (47 points) and third-placed Kibera Black Stars with 39 points.

Darajani Gogo are fourth with 37 points. “Our target is the top three positions. If we can’t get a direct ticket to the FKF Premier League, we’ll be okay with a promotion play-off. The competition for promotion is very stiff because any of the top six teams have a chance,” added the experienced coach.

Ogai beefed up his squad in the mid-season transfer window by signing eight players. They are Dickson Omalla, Abdul Barbosa, Daniel Ameo, Messi Ochieng, Edwin Odhiambo, Eric Juma, Austine Wahongo, and Steve Duol.

“We lost a couple of players, who joined other teams in the Premier League and NSL. However, we replaced them with youthful and experienced players,” noted Ogai.

Second-placed APS Bomet, coached by Evans Mafuta, have a tricky tie against former KPL side Muhoroni Youth at Muhoroni Stadium while Naivas host Fortune Sacco at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

In other games on Saturday, Kisumu All Stars face form Mully Children’s Family (MCF) at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos.

At the same time, the Michael Olunga Foundation Academy (MOFA) hosts Mombasa United at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Kisumu.
