In Summary

  • The brewers are currently two points behind Police FC in the table standings and four points ahead of champions Gor Mahia, who are also in the title race.
  • While Okere will be hoping his striking force pumps goals upfront, he also has to ensure their defense, led by Captain Charles Momanyi, who won the Tusker FC March player of the month, keeps clean sheets.

Tusker FC will miss the services of striker Ryan Ogam for the rest of the season after undergoing a knee, following an injury he suffered in February 2025.

This is a major blow to the Brewers in their bid to clinch the FKF premier league title for the first time since the 2020/2021 season after the 2021/2022 title was nullified due to FIFA suspension on the FKF.

Ogam last played during their 1-1 draw with Shabana FC at Machakos stadium on 26 February 2025 in an FKF premier league clash and also pulled out of the Harambee Stars camp before their 2026 World Cup qualifiers against the Gambia and Gabon last month.

The meniscus tear surgery conducted yesterday at a Nairobi hospital means the Ogam will miss the business end of the season and the African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament set for August 2-30, 2025. Tusker FC head coach Charles Okere will have to depend on his forward line of Deugratius Ojok, Thomas Omole, Michael Oduor, Lawrence Luvanda, Jacob Onyango, Eric Balecho, John Njuguna, John Bnyamukama, Boban Zirintusa and James Kibanda to bring the title to Ruaraka.

The former Rainbow FC captain has scored 15 goals, almost half of the total goals the brewers have managed in the KPL premier league at 35, after 25 matches in the 2024/2025 season.

The brewers are currently two points behind Police FC in the table standings and four points ahead of champions Gor Mahia, who are also in the title race.

While Okere will be hoping his striking force pumps goals upfront, he also has to ensure their defense, led by Captain Charles Momanyi, who won the Tusker FC March player of the month, keeps clean sheets.

The brewers have conceded 24 goals so far and have a goal difference of plus 1 compared to Police and Gor Mahia, who have a plus 18 difference.

The 20-year KPL top scorer saw his magical numbers of 15 goals and three 3 assists in 15 games attract lucrative moves from the North Africa and European sides during the January transfer window, but none materialized.

Ogam, who scored during his international debut at the Mapinduzi Cup in Zanzibar in January 2025, is likely to start rehabilitation after three months before returning to full training.
