Defence and improvement in the setpiece were key as Kabras secured a fifth consecutive Enterprise Cup, assistant coach Max Adaka has revealed.

The millers beat Menengai Oilers 33-12 in Saturday's final in Nakuru to complete a league and cup double for the fourth time running.

The millers beat the Nakuru-based Oilers 27-26 in the Kenya Cup final on April 12.

“Defensively, we were solid. Our one-on-one tackles stopped them from getting over the gainline," said Adaka.

"We played to the script, which the head coach wanted, winning the collisions, keeping the ball alive in attacking positions and making the right decisions.

"Our scrum, which disintegrated in the second half of the Kenya Cup final, was dominant. It gave us a platform for our game by playing in their half and accumulating as many points as possible," added Adaka.

They will beef up the team by bringing in young players and exposing them to elite-level rugby.

“There is a lot of talent coming from Western and Nyanza and schools around the region. We will scout, polish them up and give them opportunities to play for this club,” added Adaka.

The former Kenya Simbas international acknowledged their fans' unwavering support, which has seen them finish unbeaten three seasons in a row — 52 Kenya Cup and Enterprise Cup matches.

“As the technical bench, we would like to thank the fans for always travelling with us and supporting us for the whole season,” noted Adaka.

Oilers coach Gibson Weru lamented a poor start to the final with the hosts down 15-0 at the interval.

Oilers responded through Beldad Ogeta and Samuel Ovwamu, with Timothy Omela adding one conversion.
