Administration Police Service (APS) Bomet coach Evans Mafuta hopes to win all four remaining matches despite needing just three points to qualify for the Kenya Premier League next season.
They begin the run-in with a tricky encounter against Kibera Black Stars on Sunday, with Nzoia Sugar (home), Mully Children’s Family (away) and SS Assad (home) lurking.
“The game against Kibera Black Stars will not be a walk in the park. Black Stars are also in the mix for a play-off slot. It will be a tough encounter. However, we are out for a win to confirm our qualification. I’m optimistic that we shall qualify for the top-tier league,” noted Mafuta.
After a stuttering last few games, APS Bomet got their act together last weekend with a comfortable 4-0 win over struggling Kisumu All Stars at Bomet Stadium.
Kibera Black Stars lost 3-2 against Nzoia Sugar at Sudi Stadium in Bungoma.
“Kisumu were on a good run, but the boys put in an extra effort to win,” added Mafuta, who has been with the team from the start of the season.
APS Bomet are second on the log with 58 points.
Nairobi United, who have already sealed their promotion slot, top the standings with 66 points.
If APS Bomet seal the second automatic top-tier qualification slot, the battle for the promotion playoff slot will be between Naivas, Darajani Gogo, Fortune Sacco and Black Stars.
Paul Ogai’s Darajani Gogo have a tough encounter against on-form Nzoia Sugar at Sudi Stadium as Fortune Sacco welcome Mombasa United at Kianyaga Stadium.
The Michael Olunga Foundation Academy (MOFA) host Vihiga United at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Kisumu as Mully Children’s Family (MCF) welcome 3K FC at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
Samwest Blackboots will battle it out with Migori Youth while SS Assad play Mombasa Stars in a coast derby at Ukunda showground. At Mumboha grounds in Vihiga, Luanda Villa welcome neighbours Kisumu All Stars.
