Agnes Keino has set her focus on Sunday's Copenhagen Half Marathon in Denmark.

Keino, who finished third at the Copenhagen Marathon on May 15, will be facing stiff competition from compatriots Judith Korir ( world marathon silver medalist), Sharon Lokedi, Irene Jepchumba, Fancy Chemutai, Chumba Chebichii, Vicoty Chepngeno and Beatrice Chepkemoi.

Speaking after her last morning training at the Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret, Keino said her training has gone on as planned and remains hopeful this will translate into results come Sunday.

“I have had intense training ahead of the race. I finished third in the marathon but I want to try my best to win the half marathon,” said Keino.

At the starting point, focus will be on the reigning Paris Marathon champion Korir, the fastest in the field with a personal best time of 65:28 set at the 2022 Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon.

Keino, a former Strasburg 10km champion, has a lifetime best of 65:04 set at the 2018 Remich Route du Vin Semi Marathon.

The 10k Hamburg Alsterlauf champion said she expects to regain her rhythm after the Covid-19 pandemic ruined her targets for 2020 and 2021.

“The journey was good until when corona struck. However, I’m happy that I was able to run and place third at the Copenhagen Marathon. All I can do is hope for the best in the future,” said 2019 10k Tout Roanne Court, Roanne second runners up.
