When Athletics gets underway at the Paris Games, there will be high hopes for the team as they seek to continue their dominance in middle and long-distance races.

Kenya has selected more than thirty athletes to take part in the games.

Athletics will start on August 1st with men's and women's 20KM walk and end on August 11th with the women's marathon.

There will be a total of seventeen sessions in between the track and field competitions at Stade De France.

All track and field finals will be held in the evening sessions, while the road events will take place in the mornings on four different days.

According to World Athletics, Athletes looking to double up in the 100m and 200m, 800m and 1500m, 1500m and 5000m, or 5000m and 10,000m will be able to do so, without having to compete in more than one discipline on any given day.

Other possible doubles include the long jump and triple jump, and the 20km & 35km race walks.

Faith Kipyegon will be among the athletes doing double races as well as Beatrice Chebet. Kipyegon will be taking in the women's 1500m and 5000m.

Kipyegon is among Kenyan athletes tipped to win the Gold Medal in the games.

She will be seeking to defend her title in the 1500m where she has won it twice in the games during Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020.

Kipyegon who is going to the games after she recently broke her world record in 1500m is the hot favourite to defend her title as well as claim her first Olympic Gold Medal in the women's 5000m.

She won the double during last year's World Athletics Championship in Budapest.

Eliud Kipchoge is another Kenya tipped to land a Gold medal in the men's marathon where he will be going for his third straight Gold Medal having won the race in Rio 2016 and successfully defended his title in Tokyo 2020.

Despite finishing 10th this year in the Tokyo Marathon, Kipchoge who is the first man to run below two hours in the men's marathon will be one of the favourites in the race which also includes Kenenisa Bekele from Ethiopia.

Hellen Obiri will be another Kenya expected to have a great performance at the Games.

Obiri will be taking part in the women's Marathon having transitioned after the Tokyo 2020 games.

She will be going to the games rich in form after winning the Boston Marathon.

Obiri will team up with defending champion Peris Jepchirchir and Sharon Lokedi for the race as they seek to land a 1,2,3 finish for team Kenya.

Kenya also expects to have a good hunting ground in the men's and women's 800m races with Emmanuel Wanyama and Mary Moraa tipped to perform well at the games.

Wanyama a silver medalist from the World Athletics Championship in Budapest is one best runners in the race at the moment while Moraa wil be out to add to the world championship title she won last year. Moraa will also be taking part in women's 400m.

Kenya could also secure a Gold Medal in the women's 10,000m where world record holder Beatrice Chebet will be taking part.

Chebet is among the favourites to win the race after her recent form and she will also double in the women's 5000m where she will be up against Faith Kipyegon.

One area of concern is the men's 3000m steeplechase where Kenya has failed to dominate in the recent past. The last time Kenya won Gold in the race at the Olympics was during the 2016 Rio Games.
