Athletics Kenya (AK) has unveiled a new streamlined online registration system which starts in Iten next week.

In a statement, AK announced that starting January 1, 2025, all services will be exclusively available to registered athletes.

“We highly encourage all athletes to ensure they are registered as soon as possible to avoid any disruption in receiving crucial services from AK,” the statement read.

Registration will be rolled out in 16 centres across the country: Iten, Eldoret, Kapsabet, Kaptagat, Kitale, Keringet, Kericho, Bomet, Kisii, Kisumu, Mumias, Nyahururu, Nyeri, Machakos, Ngong, and Nairobi.

“This innovative platform simplifies the process for athletes and support personnel of all levels to register and receive services offered by AK,” the statement continued.

The registration will unfold in three phases: pre-registration, registration, and post-registration.

“The system is designed for a smooth and efficient user experience, broken down into three key stages: pre-registration, registration, and post-registration,” the statement read.

Pre-registration requires athletes to provide national IDs (for those over 18 years) and original birth certificates (for those under 18 years).

Additionally, athletes are advised to have a travel passport readily available although not mandatory at that stage.

“Once the athlete has all the necessary documents, they will be required to complete the official registration process by providing their athletics competition performance attained at a World athletics, AK or any other athletics national federation sanctioned event,” the statement read on.

Athletes also need a recent passport-sized photograph to attach to their profile.

Upon successful registration, athletes will receive a confirmation email with access to their personalized participant dashboard, which will help them track participation, key information and update select details.

Benefits of the system include competition management, performance reporting, camp management, visualisation and support documents (visas, release, passport and authorisation letters).

AK reiterated their commitment to supporting and empowering athletes across the country.

“AK is committed to supporting and empowering athletes at every stage of their journey. With this new registration system, we aim to create a more accessible and efficient environment for Kenyan athletes to thrive,” the statement concluded.
