Kenyans run riot at Muenster Marathon, secure clean podium sweeps

In the men’s event, debutant Collins Kemboi took top honours, sealing the victory in 2:10:52 followed closely by Barnabas Kipyego (2:14:48) and Martin Cheruiyot (2:15:48).

• In the women’s event, Rebecca Cherop stormed to victory in 2:32:25 leading Lina Jepkemoi (2:35:25) and Dorine Jerop (2:38:49).

• Elsewhere, Kenyan’s also dominated the women’s race at the Tallinn Marathon securing a podium sweep led by Mercy Kwambai who clocked 2:31:09.

Kenyans dominated the Muenster Marathon in Germany on Sunday claiming clean podium sweeps in both the men’s and women’s races.

In the men’s event, debutant Collins Kemboi took top honours, sealing the victory in 2:10:52 followed closely by Barnabas Kipyego (2:14:48) and Martin Cheruiyot (2:15:48). Erick Ndiema finished just outside the podium in fourth with a time of 2:16:02.

In the women’s event, Rebecca Cherop stormed to victory in 2:32:25, leading Lina Jepkemoi (2:35:25) and Dorine Jerop (2:38:49) on the podium.

Alice Cherotich (2:39:39) and Elizabeth Chelagat (2:47:08) missed the podium finishing fourth and sixth respectively.

Elsewhere, Kenyans also dominated the women’s race at the Tallinn Marathon, securing a podium sweep led by Mercy Kwambai who clocked 2:31:09.

Hildah Jepkogei (2:31:29) and Euliter Tanui (2:31:48) completed the podium.

In the men’s race, Samwel Kiptoo claimed victory in 2:13:48 ahead of Ethiopia’s Geleto Barecha (2:14:10) and Ishmael Chelanga (2:14:39).

 Edwin Koech (2:20:03) and Julius Kiprono (2:21:22) finished sixth and seventh respectively.

In other races, Kennedy Ronoh finished third at the Budapest Half Marathon, clocking 1:05:59 to trail the host Levente Szemerei (1:03:25) and Adam Lomb (1:05:49) who took the top two places.

Glorius Jepkirui missed out on a victory in the women’s race after finishing second in 1:18:27, trailing the hosts’ Nora Szabo (1:12:08) and just ahead of Australia’s Ciara Long (1:18:43).

Dominick Bett clocked 1:04:38 to win the Izmir Half Marathon ahead of compatriot Michael Kiplangat (1:05:41) and Turkey’s Ahmet Alkanoglu (1:07:15).
