No team will be demoted from the women’s Premier League next year, according to Kenya Basketball Federation.

Joseph Amoko, the KBF competition secretary,  clarified that since they want to maintain 12 teams in the top women’s tier, they will only promote.

“We only have ten teams in the premier league instead of 12. So the ones up will stay put and we will add two more from Division One," Amoko clarified.

Four new teams from the Inter-Provincial play-offs event will be promoted to the women’s Division One pushing the number to 10.

The teams that qualified from the Eldoret tournament are Zetech University Sparks, Safe Spaces, and Butere Girls.

Amoko said they are also considering having TH3 Swish to the league. The Nakuru side also took part in the Eldoret event.

Meanwhile, Emyba have been kicked out of the Premier League after failing to honour their weekend fixtures.

Amoko confirmed that the Emyba are victims of their own undoing after skipping weekend league matches against Lakeside and Eldonets.

The development now leaves only 11 teams in the top tier. Bottom side, Kenya College of Accountancy (KCA) University will be relegated.
