Bottom-of-the-table Kenyatta University teams hope to reinvigorate their Kenya National Basketball League campaigns with wins in their away matches this weekend.

The women’s side, Oryx, will be the busier of the two Thika Road-based teams with two matches, against TH3 Swish in Nakuru on Saturday and Eldonets in Eldoret the following day. The students are winless in eight matches.

Coach Caleb Osewe said they are eager to strike their first win of the season.

“We have a chance to do well in the two matches and improve our position. The girls have trained well but we expect tough matches,” said Osewe.

The men’s side, Pirates, have just a win in 11 matches. They face eighth-placed Platinum Eldonets, who have 12 points.

“We are coming off a close 64-62 loss to USIU Tigers last weekend. It was an encouraging result and I believe we should push on from there,” added Osewe.

Maurice Obilo’s Sparks, who are unbeaten alongside leaders Kenya Ports Authority, have maximum 16 points from eight matches.

“I dont have a strong team as five of my first team players are sitting their examinations this week. I have to give others a chance,” said Obilo.

With international Madina Okot available for selection, Zetech should be able to sparkle with ease against ninth-placed Lynx.
