USIU face Strath today in rescheduled playoff encounter

On Tuesday, Kenya Basketball Federation secretary Angela Luchivya said the League Committee met and annulled the game and decided it be restarted afresh on Wednesday.

• “There will be a rematch of Game Two of the USIU vs Strathmore series at 5:30 pm on Wednesday. In the case of Game Three, it will be played at 6 pm on Friday,” Luchivya said.

• The men’s semifinals will have champions KPA up against Strathmore University Blades while top seed Nairobi City Thunder will confront Equity Bank Dumas.

The women’s playoff semifinals Game Two clash between United States International University Flames and Strathmore University Swords will be played on Wednesday at the Nyayo Stadium gymnasium.

This tie, scheduled for last Saturday was discontinued after Swords protested that Flames used an ineligible player — Sarah Chan. The game was called off in the first quarter with the scores tied at 10-10.

On Tuesday, Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) secretary Angela Luchivya said the League Committee met and annulled the game and decided it be restarted afresh on Wednesday.

“There will be a rematch of Game Two of the USIU vs Strathmore series at 5:30 pm on Wednesday. In the case of Game Three, it will be played at 6 pm on Friday,” Luchivya said.

The Swords and Flames finished fourth and fifth respectively in the regular season.

The winner of this match-up will meet champions Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) in the semifinals. The Porters beat the Africa Nazarene University (ANU) Panthers.

The men’s semifinals will have champions KPA up against Strathmore University Blades while top seed Nairobi City Thunder will confront Equity Bank Dumas.

The Lower Division semifinals will see an all-KDF clash pitting Snipers against Moi Air Base (MAB) as Stanbic Shield battle the National Bank of Kenya.
