Vihiga Queens forward Tereza Engesha is the Kenya Footballers Welfare Association Player of the Month for March after scoring five goals during the period.

She becomes the fourth player to win the award this season in Zone 'B'. Kisumu All Starlets midfielder Merceline Ayodi (December), Oserian Ladies' defender Leila Agunda (January) and Wadadia forward Ruth Chebungei (February) are the past winners.

Engesha walked home with a personalised plaque and shopping voucher worth Sh. 10,000.

"I would like to thank my teammates since without them, I cannot win any award," Engesha remarked during a brief ceremony at Kidundu grounds on Thursday.

Engesha has been in imperious form this season scoring 15 goals to lead the charts after 12 matches. Vihiga have already booked a playoff slot and the team remains on course to defend their title.

Engesha was crowned KEFWA player of the year in 2019 after scoring 36 goals and helping Queens to a third title.

Coach Alex Alumira said: "This award will motivate players which will in help improve the quality of our women's football. It also shows we are doing something positive since Engesha was voted for by players from other teams. The more the motivation, the better a team becomes."
