Kenya U-23 and Kariobangi Sharks' first-choice keeper Brian Bwire Okoth is set to join Football Kenya Federation Premier League leaders Tusker.

Bwire confirmed the new development, saying he was already in the middle of the transfer process.

“It’s true I've parted ways with Sharks and I'm on my way to Tusker,” said Bwire.

The agile custodian suffered a huge setback at the start of the season after sustaining an injury that kept him out of their league encounters.

He, however, recovered in time for the Cecafa U-23 championship in Ethiopia where he led the Emerging Stars to the semis.

“We had hoped to bring the title home but things didn't turn out according to our plans,” said Bwire.

A source at Sharks confirmed  the keeper has already bid farewell to his childhood club.

Bwire kicked off his stellar goalkeeping career at Kakamega High School. His splendid exploits between the woodwork at the school games landed him a role at the academy side of 13-time Kenyan Premier League champions AFC Leopards where he featured in the KPL U-20 tournament in 2016.

His star kept rising and in 2017, he linked up with Kariobangi Sharks where he deputised John Oyemba.

He eventually took up the role of first-choice keeper following the departure of Oyemba to AFC Leopards in 2020.

Tusker are in the market to beef up their squad as they prepare to charge for the Confederation of African Football Champions League title.

The brewers are also keen on securing the signature of midfielder Teddy Osok who is a free agent after a year's stint in the Zambian Super League.

Also on their radar is former AFC Leopards centre back Clyde Senaji as well as keeper Patrick Matasi who severed ties with St. George FC.

Former Gor Mahia centre back Charles Momanyi has already linked up with the brewers and has been training with them at Ruaraka Grounds for the last two weeks.

Coach Robert Matano's charges secured a slot in the continental showpiece after emerging at the apex of the FKF-PL table by June 30, the deadline set by the continental football governing body for member associations to present the names of representatives in the tournament.
