Itigo have vowed to win the national girls' football crown and represent the country in the East Africa Secondary Schools scheduled for August in Kigali, Rwanda.

The last time the regional competitions were last held was in 2019 when Uganda's Kawembe Girls Secondary School clinched the title.

Mukono Secondary School, also from Uganda, settled for the silver medal while Kenya’s representative—Itigo won the bronze. Itigo Girls’ football team coach Emmanuel Kogo said he has a better team than the 2019 outfit.

“I have a better team in 2023 and hopefully, we are going to clinch first the national trophy before proceeding to Rwanda to represent the country,” Kogo noted.

The East Africa festival was suspended following the outbreak of Covid-19 globally and will be held for the first time since 2019.
