Kenya Police Bullets' head coach Beldine Odemba believes her talent-laden squad boasts sufficient depth to charge for a continental title.

Odemba made the remarks after guiding the law enforcers to a maiden topflight silverware in their stellar debut season.

Bullets stormed to the Kenya Women's Premier League (KWPL) title after gunning down Bunyore Starlets 3-0 in their final league encounter at the Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Mamboleo Kisumu.

The outcome took their season's tally to 49 points.  "The sky is the limit and we now intend to vie for regional and continental honours," Odemba remarked.

"I'm proud of what we have achieved this season. This attests to the hard work and the relentless effort we all put into the season," she added.

Mercy Njeri opened the floodgates with a 19th-minute stunner that sparked off more fire in the action-packed thriller that kept the spectators on the edge of their seats.

Rebecca Okwaro then hammered the final nail into Bunyore's casket with two quick-fire efforts in the 75th and 77th minutes that consummated the Bullets' unbeaten run in 22 league outings.

This is the maiden title for the gallant side that was largely rebranded from erstwhile and defunct top-flight mainstays Thika Queens in the preceding season.

The feat earns them the coveted ticket to fly the country's flag at the upcoming Cecafa Women's Championship later in the year.

Bullets burst into life last season as the women's side of Kenyan Premier League club Police FC, following a directive by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) requiring all top-flight outfits to establish women and youth teams.

They stormed to the title ahead of four-time champions Vihiga Queens and reigning Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup champions Ulinzi Starlets, who cracked second and third places respectively after a ferocious campaign.

Vihiga Queen wrapped up the season in second place despite their 4-1 thrashing by Wadadia at the Mumias Complex.

Tumaini Waliaula scored Vihiga's solitary goal to fire his tally to 16 this season, enough to secure her the Golden Boot gong.

She finished ahead of the Kenya Police Bullets’ trio of Purity Alukwe (14), Rebecca Okwaro (14), and Nancy Atako (12).

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) vice-president Doris Petra led other dignitaries in awarding the trophy and medals to the winners.

Petra lavished praise on the local women's football terrain, observing it had experienced rapid and unimaginable growth.
