Bomet County schools football champions Kaplong Boys will renew their rivalry with Tenwek High at the Term Two games on Thursday at St Michael Secondary School playground.

They are in Pool 'B' — Group of Death — alongside hosts St Michael, who will hope to utilise home-ground advantage.

Kaplong beat Tenwek 2-1 on post-match penalties in last year's final following a barren draw in regulation time.

Kaplong Boys Chief Principal Mike Yator is itching to retain the title.

“We are ready to meet and beat our opponents. We are going into this championship with one mission — to retain this title,” Yator said.

Games master Kiplangat Bett already has his sights on the Rift Valley regional games slated for later this month in Bomet.

“Our players are disciplined and play according to instructions. We will bank on that since anything is possible in games,” said Kiplangat.

Tenwek coach Gideon Kemboi said they are ready for whatever challenge their opponents have.

“Kaplong should know that we are prepared for them. We expect nothing but to dethrone them,” said Kemboi.

Kapsimbiri Secondary and Boito Boys have qualified automatically for the semifinals in Pool 'A'.

Evergreen Ndaraweta Girls face Meswondo and Kamaget Secondary in Pool 'B'.

Kapchemibei and Korara have already qualified for the semis off Pool 'A'.

Ndaraweta principal, Norah Yegon, said they are well prepared for their opponents.

“We are motivated after winning the sub-zonal, zonal and sub-county levels. We will take every game seriously,” said Yegon, even as she warned her players against complacency.

There will also be volleyball, basketball 3x3, netball, rugby Sevens and racquet games.
