Former national football girls’ champions Wiyeta (Trans Nzoia) and Kaplong Boys (Bomet) will now represent their respective counties in next week's Rift Valley  Games after their appeals were upheld by a meeting sitting at the county director's office.

St Joseph's  Girls High School had appealed Wiyeta's win, claiming they fielded ineligible players during the Trans Nzoia school games on Monday at the Kipkeikei Secondary School playground. Wiyeta won the game by a solitary.

In Bomet County, Kaplong will represent the county after Kapsimbiri was stripped of the win for fielding ineligible players.

Kaplong Boys had appealed against Kapsimbiri's win after losing to them 3-0 at Bomet IAAF Stadium last week.

Kaplong alleged their rivals used players who did not meet the eligibility criteria, putting them at a disadvantage.

The investigators upheld the claims, resulting in Kapsimbiri's disqualification and a ban from future competitions.

"In light of Kasimbiri's disqualification, Kaplong Boys will take part in the upcoming Rift Valley Regional Championships, scheduled for July 16 in Bomet County," said the ruling in part.

This opportunity has reignited Kaplong’s aspirations of advancing to the nationals after being eliminated last year in the quarter-finals.

At the time of going to press, an appeal case by national football St Anthony Boys High School challenging St Joseph's Boys High School’s win was still ongoing.

St Anthony claimed that their opponents fielded ineligible players after losing to them 2-0 in the final. St Joseph ended St Anthony's 22-year unbeaten run in the county.

The win was a sweet revenge for the St. Joseph Boys popularly known as ‘Jobo’ who have consistently lost to St Anthony in the past years.

St Joseph Boys Game teacher Austin Musumba had told  St Antony to eat a humble pie and accept the outcome of the match.

“This football and we must have a winner and loser. We have been losing to them in the past and have always shook hands. We expect them to do the same,” he said.
