The Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Term Two games will be held from August 4-9, according to the revised dates.

The games were initially set for July 29 to August 7. While making the announcement, KSSSA Secretary General David Ngugi said the referees’ clinic will be held at Kisii School on August 1 while teams are expected to arrive in Kisii on August 2.

On August 3, students, coaches, teachers and other officials are expected to engage in a tree-growing exercise. The teams will battle it out in football, netball, rugby 7s, volleyball and racquet games.

Ngugi revealed that Kisii School will host football, netball, basketball 3x3, rugby 7s, table tennis and badminton while Cardinal Otunga High School, Mosocho, will stage volleyball and football.

Gusii Stadium will host the opening football game, the finals and any other game considered high-risk, noted Ngugi.

On Wednesday, a high-powered delegation of KSSSA and Ministry of Education officials inspected the facilities and expressed their satisfaction with the conditions.

The opening ceremony and opening game will be held on August 4 at Gusii Stadium. Preliminary games will be played on August 5th and 6th while the semi-finals will be staged on August 7.

The finals and closing ceremony are scheduled for August 8 with the teams expected to depart Kisii the following day.

The teams will head to Kakamega for a 10-day camp before they leave for Mbale, Uganda, for the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) Championships, added Ngugi.

“The teams will depart Kisii straight to Kakamega where they will be joined by teams that qualified for the regional event during Term One games,” said Ngugi.

Ngugi was speaking in the company of KSSSA president Kipchumba Maiyo and treasurer Kariuki Gikonyo among others.

The regional showpiece will be held from August 16 to August 28 at Amus College School and Bukedea Comprehensive School.

Ngugi said he expects Kenya teams to perform well and bag trophies at the regional showpiece.
